Thank you for this, I am lookong forward to them.
thanks for your efforts, they are very appreciated!
Thank you very much! Very good of you to add Scotland and to know that you will post Canada in the close future. I would also thank you for a very nice blog and give my compliments for your persistence and intent to complete this undertaking. The stimulating effect for others to undertake similar projects is obvious. May I suggest for some further continuity and to possibly elevate the quality would be perhaps to make one post with the titles and volume numbers of all the records in the series at the very best with a concordance to the Rounder Records reissues. I am still not sure how many they reissued.
I understand that there may be other volumes apart from the ones on England, France. India, Rumania, and Yugoslavia and I am also still confused aboutt the correct Volume numbers. Is it so that the Rounder Records have their own numbering? Things like this would be most worthwhile to undertake as well as a more detailed track listings with times and track division for the different volumes. In all it is a very good resource that could become more useful with a more complete discographic information! As some small token of thanks I have made a list to the best of my understanding that could form a basis for such a post, It is still full of question marks and I would welcome any corrections and additions:
Columbia – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volumes I-XVIII
SL204 Ireland – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume I – Ireland
SL205 French Africa – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume II – French Africa
SL206 England – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume III – England
SL207 Alan Lomax – World library of folk and primitive music – Volume IV – France
SL208 Australia & New Guinea – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music Volume V – Australia & New Guinea
SL209 Scotland – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume VI – Scotland
SL210 Indonesia – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume VII – Indonesia
SL211 France – World library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume VIII – France (?)
SL212 Venezuela – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music Volume IX – Venezuela
SL213 British East Africa – World Library of Folk and primitive Music Volume X – British East Africa
SL214 Japan, The Ryukyus, Formosa and Korea – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume XI
SL215 India – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music Volume XII – India
SL216 Spain – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music Volume XIII – Spain
KLXXXX Yugoslavia – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume XIV – Yugoslavia
KL5173 Northern Italy – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music Volume XV – Northern Italy
KL5174 Southern Italy and the Islands – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music Volume XVI – Southern Italy and the Islands
KLXXXX Romania – The World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume XVII – Romania
KL5378 Bulgaria – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music Volume XVIII – Bulgaria
Rounder Records (Most likely there were several other volumes than are listed here)
Rounder CD 1741? – England – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume I – England
Rounder CD 1742 – Ireland – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume II – Ireland
Rounder CD 1743 – Scotland – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume III – Scotland
Rounder CD 0000 – Spain – World Library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume IV – Spain
Rounder CD 0000 – France – World library of Folk and Primitive Music – Volume 8 – France
I will continue to try to find the right catalogue numbers and more titles for the Rounder Reissues.
Thanks again for your blog!
Thanks for your listing. It seems quite correct except that volume 8 of the lp collection is Canada and not France. I’ll post the Canadian volume next week i believe. For the Rounder reissues you can add India, Romania and Yugoslavia and i think that’s all. I’ll try to have the complete list posted after i post the Canadian volume. Thanks for your interest.
I have tie Romania , Vol. XVII, cd of this seria. It has number 1759 and was edited by ROUNDER in 2001
